Be Organized but Be You
Updated: Feb 22
Look I am as guilty of this as the next person. I’ve tried to live by calendars, push notifications, create routines, you name it. I've tried it. But you know always got in the way of all of that? This crazy thing is called life. At work, Daily operations would need direct attention or meetings ran long. At home, there was a birthday party my kids needed to attend that I…uh honest forgot about or put on my calendar. Maybe I didn’t feel like cooking that night. The point is that there will always be things in my life that interrupted my perfectly planned list, calendar, etc.

So for me organization ended up being a combination of hard deadlines and fluid tasks and responsibilities. I am a tech guy and I have not been able to find a single app out there that can accurately help me with all three. If you know of an app that can post a link in the comments.
I actually use three separate things to assist me with this. My calendar holds hard deadlines, a simple task checklist helps me make sure everything that doesn’t have a deadline still gets done when I can, and I use a journal (yes a paper one), for my habit tracking and to jot down new ideas.
Is this what I am suggesting for you? No. What I am suggesting is that you take a moment to examine the actual fluidity or rigidness of your day and find tools that make the job easier. Use tools that help you be your best you. Not trying to make you someone you are not.
